This course aims to provide physiotherapy-specific information on ankle injury management and degenerative conditions, to improve the confidence as well as competence for physiotherapists in foot and ankle management for the benefit of their clients.
At the completion of this course, you should be able to: • Demonstrate a knowledge of clinically relevant anatomy of ankle and foot • Use functional tests to identify muscle and articular dysfunction patterns in the shank, ankle and foot • Differentiate between low and high ankle sprains and understand the significance in terms of prognosis and rehab time frames • Identify less common complications that delay recovery from ankle injury • Identify and manage common degenerative foot and ankle conditions seen in everyday practice based on evidence and client focussed outcomes • Recommend and dispense orthotics appropriately • Deliver specific and appropriate evidence-based treatment and science-based exercise therapy for foot and ankle rehab to a range of clinical scenarios
