Safe Not Sorry- How To Screen for Serious Medical Conditions
Lecture: Safe not Sorry - How to screen for serious medical conditions
In time-pressure environments, it's easy to fall into the trap of going through the motions of checking for red flags. It's easy to diagnose with conditions we're familiar with and find explanations for why a patient might not respond or might respond more slowly than we expect. But as first contact practitioners, we have a responsibility to think beyond the obvious and to quickly identify signs of more sinister pathology.
Over two evenings we will revisit the importance of red-flags and their implications in physiotherapy practice; work through a series of pathologies that can masquerade as musculoskeletal conditions and that physiotherapists need to recognise; cover systemic, gastro-intestinal and cardio-pulmonary causes of symptoms that might drive a patient to visit a physiotherapist.
Part One - Wednesday 13th June and Part Two- Wednesday 27th June 2018
Presenters - Mark Jones Titled Musculoskeletal physiotherapist , Julie Walters APAM and Dr Steve Milanese Titled Musculoskeletal physiotherapist
