Preventing Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth Program

The P.A.R.T.Y. (Preventing Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) program was introduced to Melbourne Health in 2011 and has seen in excess of 3000 students and youth offenders attend. Having first commenced in Toronto, Canada in 1986, it is now run in over 100 sites around the world including Brazil, Japan, Germany and the USA. Aimed at 16-25 year olds, the program highlights the reality of traumatic injuries through an interactive full-day excursion of the hospital environment to ultimately change participant’s behaviours. This presentation aims to leave attendees with an understanding of the purpose of the PARTY program; it’s impact on participants, and an experience of the program itself with interactive elements that will leave you with a newfound respect for road safety.
