Peter has a respected international clinical and research profile, and is consulted by many people for a second opinion regarding their tendon injuries, including elite athletes and performers (eg football, rugby, ballet, and tennis). He works as an Associate Professor at Monash University, focusing on tendinopathy research, and sees more than 20 tendinopathy patients in clinic each week. This course provides an up-to-date research and clinical perspective and a complete walk through assessment, kinetic chain and biomechanics considerations and rehabilitation of common tendinopathies. Achilles, plantar fascia, tibialis posterior, patellar, proximal hamstring and gluteal tendinopaties will be covered in detail. Whether you are a new graduate or very experienced clinician, you will come away with many answers to your questions as well as clinical gems to take away.
Demonstrate the ability to safely and efficiently perform a variety of soft tissue massage techniques and massage sequences appropriate to an aging population Recognise and conform to efficient postures and principles to ensure practitioner safety while performing soft tissue massage techniques Develop the participants palpation skills Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each soft tissue massage technique Know the signs and symptoms of common practitioner injuries and principles of how to avoid them Practice correct draping methods while performing soft tissue massage techniques Understand the different lubricants commonly used when providing soft tissue massage Know how some soft tissue techniques must be adapted to suit an aging patient Reflect on the surface anatomy essential for successful application of soft tissue techniques Recognise the importance of skin integrity when massaging an elderly patient
