Adult Gait and Running Analysis and Retraining

This course provides in-depth insight into higher level mobility analysis and retraining post neurological injury in the paediatric and adult populations. It includes gait and running analysis and retraining. The course combines a lecture day, covering both paediatric and adult components, and a practical day devoted exclusively to paediatric issues. Participants should have some experience in treating the paediatric/neurological population with gait and mobility limitations.
At the completion of the course, you should be able to: • Understand the impact of speed and age on gait performance • Understand an impairment-focused approach to gait analysis, and gain further knowledge of video-based observational gait analysis • Understand the biomechanical features of gait disorders in people with stroke, acquired brain/traumatic brain injury (+/- Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy) • Be able to assess and prescribe exercise to improve higher level mobility including running in the neurologically impaired population
